Kolor Eyes

Kolor Eyes offers an interesting way of playing videos. It looks and feels like any other video player on the market, but it is capable of turning videos into motion panoramas. When playing certain movies, you will feel like you are right there, in the movie, especially if you have a big screen or a projector. The player is free and it is available for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux and you can also find it on the App store, for iOS devices and on Google Play, for Android devices.

As mentioned above, Kolor Eyes looks exactly like a traditional video player. This means that you can expect a simple user interface, with a series of playback controls on its bottom portion. All you have to do is drag and drop a video file over the user interface and the application will start playing the video right away. Once a video is loaded, the player will distort the footage automatically, to make it look like a panorama. This works with mostly any video, but it works best with videos that were filmed wit wide-lens or fish-eye cameras.

You can switch between different view modes, including a full 360-degree mode. While the video is playing you can turn the mouse wheel and click and drag in the playback area, to zoom and pan. Essentially, it is just like panning the camera in a 3D environment, in which you have a player window wrapped around you.

A particularly interesting feature, which is definitely worth mentioning is the fact that Kolor Eyes provides full support for Oculus Rift DK1 and DK2. This means that you can enjoy 360-degree videos with the Oculus gear on your eyes and you will only need to turn your head around, instead of clicking and dragging with a mouse.
